The way she layers her petals and uses various colors of paper transforms her artwork into realistic masterpieces. I layered the petals on my artwork, and this gives a more 3-D realistic appearance.

Pablo_PicassoMaster artist- Pablo Picasso: He was known for his abstract artwork and also his use of cubism. He also had a very vibrant color palette choice. The colors on my artwork are bright and the petals give a sense of cubism.

Description:

The artwork is an image of a lion with a sunflower mane. He is blending in with a bunch of sunflowers. The petals are cut out paper. The center is paper with oil pastel detailing. The lion was drawn in oil pastel. The lion is in the middle of the image and the flowers are surrounding him. It was done in a warm color palette. It is not realistic, but it is very child-friendly.

Analysis:

The artwork portrays unity. The colors are consistent. The flowers are nearly all the same shape and size. This allows them to all blend together and none of them stand out above the others. The whole piece flows nicely, and the characteristic of each flower remain the same throughout. The flowers are in a circle formation, and this plays a unitary circle. A circle is a universal sign of a whole/completeness.

Interpretation:

Sunny is the name of the lion. He was born with a sunflower mane. From a young age, he felt he did not fit in. As a lion, he was expected to grow up and be ferocious. However, he wanted nothing less than be in a patch of sunflowers. He felt that was where he was meant to be. In the end, he realized he did not need to fit in. It is okay to be different and unique.

Judgment:

One personal strength of this piece was my consistency with the size of the flowers. The flowers are all the same size. Another strength is the detailing within the center of the flower. By using oil pastels, I could give them a somewhat less unrealistic look. I could have improved the outcome of the artwork by using the same paper throughout. The sizes are the same, but the color of yellow varies. The use of oil pastels looked nice for the flowers. However, the face of the lion looks somewhat sloppy
